The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, and now we actually have energy to do things. Ostara is a season of rebirth and new beginnings. When we talk about Ostara, we talk a lot about colored eggs and cute bunnies, but what should we really be focusing on for Ostara? This blog post will dive into way you can celebrate this important holiday.
Firstly, why is this holiday so important? Each Sabbat is important to the cycle of the year, and not one point is more or less important. Ostara focuses on rebirth and balance. The previous season focused on cleansing, clearing out and preparation, and all that preparation is for this very season. Now is the time we begin to plant the seeds and hope for the best. The sun has returned to us- we must celebrate!
There are a few ways to celebrate this Sabbat without breaking the bank, and I will be listing them below:
- Play with eggs – eggs is a sign of fertility as well as birth, both which are important to this Sabbat. Egg racing, coloring eggs, or finding them can be fun for the children (and adults!)
- Go for a Springtime Walk – Going for a walk around the block, or even just relaxing on your balcony can be nice! Go out and welcome Spring.
- Watch the Sunrise – This may not be easy for everyone, but I feel it would be nice to wake up, make a tea, and sit by a window and wait for the sun to rise. Say hello, talk about how happy you are to see the sun again, and drink your tea. This is also a good time to meditate.
- Divination – Is it shocking that I, Crescent Diviner here at Crescent Divination will suggest this? Probably not, but it is helpful! Divination can be used at this time to help with changes, or figure out the best path to go with. Divination using eggs is also popular at this time. Separate your whites from your yolks and then fill a pot with water. Take a pot and boil the water and take it off the heat once it is boiled. The moment the bubbles settle, quickly pour the egg whites into it. Take the time to distinguish the shapes the egg whites make.
